Clarion Cars is the main Proton dealer for the Worthing area in West Sussex. Peter (Sales Manager) and Ian (Service Manager) have had this site for 28 years now, initially taking on the Skoda Franchise (Clarion is now a Skoda Specialist) and then 6 years ago taking on the Daihatsu Franchise, Daihatsu has stopped importing new cars into this country as the strength of the Yen was making European pricing unfavourable. However, there is absolutely no problem with spare parts for second hand Daihatsu’s!
Proton has been the proud owner of Lotus since 1996. Lotus is a world-famous designer of many quality sports cars, and we think after a test drive in one of the latest Proton models you will definitely notice Lotus’s input throughout the car.
The Gen-2 starts from £9195, is Proton’s largest car and comes as manual or automatic, in 1.3 or 1.6, as a hatchback or saloon (the Persona). Proton has added an environmentally-friendly version of the Gen 2 - the EcoLogic from £10,195 (also available as hatchback or saloon) as it uses LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) and/or Petrol. LPG is available around the country for about 70p per gallon which means you can fill the tank up for about £23!
New Cars
The boot is simply huge in all the Gen 2’s and you aren’t cramped for space inside the car either. The interior is well finished with a choice of leather trim and good visibility all round.
FEW MAKE THE GRADE, but, according to the Humberside Police Force, Proton does. They have run Proton’s for over 10 years and have recently taken delivery of a further 20 Proton Gen 2’s to reinforce its view that Proton continues to produce a high quality vehicle that meets this challenging task.
A new model in the Proton range is the Satria Neo 1.6 2-door hot hatchback, available as manual or automatic from £8,495. This is a striking looking car, available in GSX or sport version, the latter comes complete with optional stripes and a choice of Lotus colours and Lotus badging!
Service
The last model in the range is the little ‘Savvy’ 1.2 16V, the city car, well I say little but it has 5 doors, seats 4 adults comfortably and has a boot big enough to cope with the weekly shop, or drop the seats completely flat and it’ll swallow nearly anything! The New Proton Savvy starts from NOW £6,995, £1000 OFF!
